The Best Workout - September 8th, 2009
One of my favorite ways to exercise is to get on an elliptical machine. It seems like if I can put a good television show on, or listen to some fast moving music, that I am able to get on the machine and go forever it seems. I love that I can do a variety of programs on the elliptical machine too. Some of the programs are harder than others, but I can usually push through them, and keep it going.
I think the reason it seems easier to me to do than other things is that I am keeping my mind pre-occupied. I try to cover up the timer so that doesn’t distract me, and just focus on what I’m watching or listening to while doing the full program. For me to watch those little red dots going up as it gets harder and harder and then down making it a bit easier is really satisfying to me. I feel like I just climbed a huge mountain peak by the time I am done. I know it is the adrenaline that gets me pumped, but it is such a great feeling. I am not able to do this in the evening though. That adrenaline rush makes it so I cannot fall asleep at night. It’s a great thing to get my day started off right.
Proven Diet Plans - September 7th, 2009
There are so many diets out there, I don’t really know how people actually decide which one to try. For me, I look at maybe someone around me that has had success in using or doing a specific diet. I look at some of the diet pills that have been around for years and years, like Dexatrim and wonder if they really work. I think they have something in them that is a stimulant, that triggers your body to not want to eat, or just not feel hungry.
Then there are the tried and true programs out there that have been around forever like Weight Watchers. I know for a fact that this diet works when applied properly. I have done it, and it does work. I think Weight Watchers has actually gone with the times, and has made their program to fit into our lifestyles as the times have changed. Maybe that is where part of it’s success comes from.
With Weight Watchers, there are no diet pills or stimulants involved at all. It is all based on what you eat, and also on basic exercise. There are also some newer fad diets that just come and go with time. I think when you decide which diet is best for you, think about how long the diet has been around, and if there has been some actual success. Ask around, I think that is your best bet!
Wrestlers & Weight Loss - September 6th, 2009
Here is an idea for you. What extremes have you put yourself to lose those extra pounds that magically found their way on to your waist line? It truly is amazing how those pounds just seem to show up. One day you look just fine and the next you look in the mirror and you suddenly look like you ate a Dunkin’ Donuts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Well maybe you can fix this problem if you want to take a page from every high school wrestling program across the country.
I remember when in high school, I would see the wrestlers going through their strenuous practice and suddenly I would see one of them come around the corner wearing a big black plastic garbage bag. At first I had no idea why one kid would be running around the gym for what seemed like eternity wearing a garbage bag. I was then informed that they did this to lose weight for a match. They would lose a ton of weight by doing this. I have been told that doing this was not the safest form of weight loss, but it does work. I don’t know if I would recommend this, but what crazy things have you done for a pound or two?
Allowing Obesity - September 4th, 2009
Is there any point when people just give up and don’t care about their weight? I have heard older people worried about their calorie intake just as much as I see younger people concerned with the same thing. I think it is just one of those things that just never really goes away. I am glad that people try to be conscious about their weight, but there are far too many people who are over obsessive over their weight. We’ve heard it over and over, the fact that on the television, on magazines, and just in society in general, that you have to be skinny to be an okay person. It’s really sad, but it’s true.
Children learn it at a very young age as well. It seems like it is one extreme or the other with most people. Either they go overboard on dieting, or they absolutely do nothing about their weight. But even those who don’t do anything to control their weight, I believe that if they are overweight it bothers them. I think it’s uncomfortable to be overweight. People look at you different when you are overweight, and sometimes you are just treated badly. I don’t know the extreme on either side of the coin because I haven’t been hugely overweight or underweight, but I think severely underweight people deal with the same issues. I wish we could all just be happy with the way we are.
Fen Phen Diet Pills - September 2nd, 2009
I have been thinking about the Fen Phen phase that a lot of people were on in the late 1990’s. A lot of people lost a lot of weight, and it was wildly popular among all sorts of people who wanted to lose weight. I knew a few people who actually tried Phen Phen and lost a whole lot of weight while they were on it. They looked like completely different people. It was an amazing product. It didn’t take too long before the product was recalled, and that it was no longer available to these people. There were huge lawsuits in which a lot of people who took the pills were awarded settlements for their suffering. I don’t think they thought that they were suffering at the time they were dropping the weight so much, but the after effects were much more than what these people thought they were signing up for. You better believe that everyone gained all the weight they had lost while on Phen Phen, some even gained much more. And now they had side effects from what the pills when taken together did to a person’s body. I feel bad for these people that desperately wanted to lose weight at any cost, and now are paying the price. It makes you think twice before doing the latest trend in dieting without doing a little research first!
The Cost Of Diet Pills - August 31st, 2009
I have noticed that you can spend a lot of different amounts on a diet pill. If you have purchased or even thought of purchasing some sort of diet pill, then you have noticed that some of these pills can cost you a little, or sometimes it’s quite a bit. I have to wonder what types of ingredients each of these products have, and if it’s really worth it if I compare labels and the ingredients from two different kinds of pills are exactly the same, if I should really be paying more for one than the other. I have heard that sometimes the ingredients are “watered down” in some of the different products or diet pills that we buy.
So I wonder how we know what we are buying, and if we are really getting the true value of a product that we are buying. Like anything, I tend to like to buy quality, and will often pay a little more for a product if I know that it works well, or have been recommended the procuct because of the quality. When we are spending money, it pays to check things out a little, and determine that if we buy a product, that it better work. We should also know before we buy, if we are not satisfied with the product, if we can return it for a full refund. Just my thought for the day!
Making Time For Exercise - August 29th, 2009
At the end of the day, do you wonder where the day went and how you are going to ever lose the weight? You are not alone. People everywhere are deeply searching for a way to shave a few pounds off of their mid section. I don’t know that there is a fool proof way to do that, but I do know that we should be able to enjoy the effort. I don’t believe that the only way to lose some extra inches is to feel the pain and the burn. I have been trying to think of ways that I can enjoy the time I spend exercising.
My day is filled it seems from beginning to end and I know I am not alone. Parents everywhere are running out of time everyday. I decided one thing I could do, was volunteer to help coach one of my son’s football teams. While I am there I do the exercises with the kids. Not only do they love that I am doing it with them I actually feel pretty good while doing it also. I have been doing this for a few weeks and I am not sure if I have lost a ton of weight or not, but I do know that I feel better and my son loves the time we get to spend together at practice. Find a way that you to can incorporate some sort of activity with your kids. You’ll love it and so will they.
Losing Weight & Self Esteem - August 28th, 2009
Does it make you feel better when you are out shopping, out to eat, or doing whatever it is that you do, and you see people who are much worse off than you in the weight department? For me, it does at times. Just like any other thing in life, I think you can see that there is always someone worse off than yourself in any aspect. Maybe that is a bad way to look at things, but if it gives you some perspective, I think it’s okay. Sure you need to always do what you can to keep yourself up.
I think when you let yourself go in any area, it can get overwhelming, and can make just about any person want to give up. Whether it be in weight, in getting up and getting ready for the day, or letting the clutter in your house take over and make it disasterous. I have seen far too many people that I believe that has happened to. As I stop and think about it, it seems that if someone has weight issues, that a lot of times all other areas in their lives tend to be a mess. If you pick just one thing to start out with to improve oni your life, the other things will generally follow in suit. If it makes you feel better, look at what other lot in life someone has been give, and be glad for what you have. Then from there just try to improve yourself.
Weight Loss Attitude - August 27th, 2009
Just like most things in life, you have to have a mind set of whatever it is that you are going to try to accomplish. For me as an example, I have been trying to cook my meals to be a little more healthy. I have been trying to make the usual recipes that my family enjoys, while adding a lot more vegetables to the meal. I like to add a big green salad to my dinners. A green salad will actually go with most any meal that you choose. It will also be a good filler item.
If you can try to start a meal with vegetables, or a salad, the calories that you will eat with the remainder of the meal will be lessened. And you will also be getting a lot more of the nutrients that your body needs to function properly. By substituting some of your normal recipe items or eliminating them if it won’t comprimise the taste to your meal, that will help as will. When you really put your mind to doing things a little different, you will find that it can increase in every way the nutrition on the meal. You may even notice that you feel a little healthier as well.
How To Enjoy Exercise - August 26th, 2009
Why in the world are diets so hard? I don’t think it is because we just don’t want to do them. Maybe it has something to do with how we go about doing it. People think that it is going to be a long difficult road. The real truth is that it does not have to be like pulling teeth. It can be as fun as you make it. Find an activity that you really enjoy and to really make it fun find a partner that you can do this activity with.
As an example, if you really like to walk, find a friend that will walk with you. That way you have someone that will motivate you and you can do the same for them. Plus when you go for a walk with this person you will have the opportunity to talk as you walk and your exercise will be over before you know it. The thing that usually stops people form working out or doing some sort of exercise is that they lose motivation and just stop all together. Make it easy on yourself and find a friend. Then while you are doing your daily exercise find a diet supplement that you feel comfortable with and use it in conjunction with your exercise routine. Give it a try, you just might like it.
